Ordering Veggies Through the Cold Times: Fall Week #7 – 12/10/25
Yesterday I called Tracey, our software support tech/past farmer, who is our liaison for the Farmigo software that we use to offer you customizable veggie shares.
I swear Tracy always sighs when I call, because I always seem to be asking for something the software wasn’t designed to do. For example:
– Can we charge a food access fee?
– Can we offer payment plans for checks where members send them all at once and post date them?
– Can we create functionality for our members to donate to our food access fund upon sign-up?
– Can we create a ‘newsletter’ share for those folks who no longer live in the area and eat our veggies but still want to read what I write?
– Can we make sure that when people purchase a veggie share they automatically stop getting promotional messages from our digital marketing emails?
– Can we create an easy way for members to receive a credit if our packline makes an error?
The software was not designed to do any of these things. Tracy has worked with me to create the functionality for all of these things over the years. I appreciate her!
So you can imagine both of our surprise yesterday when I asked if the software could do something (expecting a total workaround), and she said – “wait Farmigo can actually do that now super easily!”
Brilliant!
What is that thing we can now do? Drumroll please…..
Through the cold months, we can now offer the ability for you to order veggies on a pay as you order basis as you please! So basically we can offer you an online store option to purchase winter veggies!!!!
Okay, let me explain a little further. You see, by this time of year we have all of our vegetables in storage with pretty exact inventories. The vegetables have long storage lives and no new vegetables are coming in. This makes it WAY easier to have an online store, where folks just order as they please. Woohoo!
Here’s how it will work:
– Members will be able to go to the online store, just like you are accustomed to. Here you will be able to put items in your cart, choose your pick up site, and pay for them right at that time. No default items will be in your cart this time of year.
– Orders will need to be made by Sunday evening at 6pm. This will give our very small, part-time winter staff time to prep orders by delivery day.
– All payments will be by credit card. $30 minimum.
– Boxes will be delivered on TUESDAYS to a limited number of sites. (Due to cold weather, we are only going to deliver to locations where the garages have side doors thru which to enter, so we can keep the big garage doors shut).
– We plan for the first deliveries to go out on TUESDAY Dec. 23.
We will keep you posted. We sincerely hope to keep feeding you through the winter. If you are finishing up your share and plan to come back in the summer, we hope you have a warm and relaxing winter and spring!
Cheers & thank you for supporting our family farm!
Farmer Cassie
