I. CSA MEMBERSHIP AND RISK
This season, you will join our family in the risk of farming. You’ll be with us through the ups and downs, the bounty and loss of what our Wisconsin climate and soils can produce. We can’t control the weather. Your share may have less (or more!) of what you are expecting. Through diversity, good planning, and customization, it is our aim that your box will be full of beautiful vegetables each delivery.
II. CUSTOMIZING YOUR SHARE & OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
As the farmers, it is our responsibility to grow, pack, and deliver food to you with open communication. Members have responsibilities too. To make sure everyone gets their share each week, we ask that you follow the simple, yet critical directions we offer.
Basic member responsibilities:
- Read communications from the farm.
- Know where and when to pick-up your CSA share. Out of respect for both your farmers and other members, make sure anyone picking up your box on your behalf knows what to do as well. The farm will not issue credit or refunds for unclaimed or forgotten boxes.
- Take only the box labelled with your name.
- Take home your produce in your own bag or box.
- Please be mindful that we can’t control the growing conditions. The quantity and quality of the produce you receive may be more or less than expected.
Customizing Your Share:
The option to customize is available to all members but not required. If you do not wish to customize, then we will pack and deliver the pre-filled/default share to you.
If you’d like to customize, here’s how:
** Please note it is best to first attempt this on a desktop computer.** Once you are familiar with how it works you can use your smart phone, but know that sometimes it’s a little more glitchy on smart phones.
III. EGG SHARE INSTRUCTIONS
Eggs are available as an add-on share.
PLEASE – ONLY take eggs if you have ordered them AND if they are listed next to your name on the check sheet.
Eggs will be in a cooler, placed under or near the table where the check sheet is located. Simply take the number of dozens ordered, as indicated on your order sheet and/or the check sheet. Eggs dozens will not be labelled with individual names.
IV. REGS VS. EOS AND DELIVERY DATES
***All CSA box deliveries are on WEDNESDAYS. Except for the week of Thanksgiving. That delivery will most likely be on Tuesday. We are working to firm that with all sites.**
Regular Members (REGs) Pick up Dates:
Each Wednesday starting 10/30/19 thru 12/18/19
Everyother Members (EOs) Pick up Dates:
Everyother members are split into 2 groups: Group A & Group B. **You will receive a separate email with your group assignment.
Group A members start pickup on 10/30/19 and go every other week for 4 pickups through 12/11/19
Group B members start pickup on 11/06/19 and go every other week for 4 pickups through 12/18/19
V. TEXT MESSAGE REMINDERS
You can sign up to receive free text reminders for your CSA pick-up. We highly recommend this option, as shares not picked up within the specified site times are donated. An automated reminder text will be sent to you the Wednesday afternoon of your pick-ups.

VI. PICK-UP INSTRUCTIONS
- Check-Sheets: Each week, please check-off your name on the check sheet to signify that you’ve received your box. If you are splitting a share, please remember that you may be listed under the other households name.
- Locate your personal share. It will be labelled with your name.
- Unpack Your Share into Your Own Bag: The plastic boxes that the produce will be in MUST NOT leave the drop site. These boxes are expensive and we have a limited number. Please bring your own bags or boxes to take your food home in.
- Neatly stack empty boxes and lids to keep site free of clutter.
- Unclaimed Boxes: Boxes unclaimed by specified pick-up times will be donated. The farm does NOT sweep sites for unclaimed shares. It is NOT the farm’s responsibility to get you a box you forgot to pick up. No credits or refunds will be issued for forgotten boxes.
VII. OPTIONS IF I CAN’T PICK UP MY BOX
The farm does not redeliver boxes you forget to pick up. The farm does not issue credits or refunds for boxes you forget to pick up or for which you neglect to make special arrangements.
If you know ahead of time that you can’t pick up your share, there are additional options available to you. All special arrangements need to be set up by 9 am on the FRIDAY prior to your next pickup.
To make a request, please email the full request to the farm, including your membership name, the week you need to change and exactly how you’d like to change it.
Options:
#1: FARM HOLD: You can have your box delivered at our farm, at 4144 County Road J in Cross Plains for you to pick up later in the week/weekend. To do this, you need to temporarily switch your pickup location to our farm (in the system as Farm on J) for the week. You can do this at your member account: https://csa.farmigo.com/account/crossroadscommunityfarm.
#2: MAKEUP BOX You can ask to receive a makeup box at your pickup site. For REGs, this would give you two boxes in one week. For EOs, you can have it delivered on an off week, either at your site or at a nearby site that has weekly deliveries. Please note, a makeup box will not be exactly the same as what you missed, as availability is constantly changing. If you’d like to do this, email us and make sure your request includes the date you want your makeup box to be delivered.
#3: FRIEND PICKUP You can have a friend or colleague pick it up for you. The farm does not need to be notified of this arrangement. But we do ask that you explain how pick-up works to them. Problems and issues at the sites are almost always due to the friend pickup.
#4: DONATE We will donate your share to a food pantry on your behalf. To do this, please make us aware of your desire to donate ahead of time via email and we can do the rest.
VIII. MEMBER RESOURCES (Recipes, Newsletter, Facebook Group)
Every week, on the Tuesday prior to pickup, we’ll send you a newsletter, called the Crossroads Companion. In it, we will share farm stories, cooking tips, and about 6-9 recipes that are specifically chosen to help you use the contents of your box.
In addition to these weekly recipes, we have other ways to help you use your box.
- Recipe Archive Crossroads has HUNDREDS of archived recipes on our website with a recipe search function that makes it easy to search recipes using one or multiple vegetables. Please make use of it to help use the items in your box!
- Storage Tips Our website also includes specific information on how to store and use all the vegetables we grow. Click here for storage tips.
- Facebook Group Each season we start a closed group for members only. The idea of this group is to use the community of members to help everyone learn how to use their vegetables. If you were a member last year and want to see last year’s posts, the 2018 group and posts have been archived. To join for this season, click here to join 2019 group!
IX. MEMBER EVENTS
