Glutenfest: Fall Week #4 – 11/19/25

 In CSA Newsletter

Imagine this. You haven’t eaten gluten (except for maybe the occasional bite of a cookie your kid made or taste of their birthday cake) for 5 years. Then the doctor tells you they want to test you for Celiacs disease…. but to do that you have to eat gluten every day for two weeks.

What would you eat?

Folks, let me tell you –  the decision of how to eat all the glutinous things I miss in just 14 days requires a detailed plan. The pressure is tough. Decisions matter. Stakes are high.

One woman. Fourteen days. Everything she misses.

Here’s how I’ve spent glutenfest so far:

1. My own homemade pizza (with flour crust!), which was a Friday night staple in our household for over a decade.
2. A Madison Sourdough croissant with ham, egg and cheese.
3. Sjolinds meatballs and pumpernickel bread.
4. Grilled cheese on sourdough with tomato soup.
5. Repeat #4 cause damn I love that meal, especially in autumn!
6. Cassie’s Farm Chili with flour-based cornbread.
7. Pasta with fennel and sausage with a red pepper sauce.
8. A two-Hearted Ale. My very favorite, very missed beer. AND a chocolate cookie.
9. Bruschetta, and Tagliatelle with sage and mushrooms courtesy of Lombardinos.
10. An everything bagel. Damn. So good!
11. Homemade strawberry crisp
12. Tonight… Salvatore’s pizza.

I might learn that I can never eat gluten again – even in little bits. So I’m savoring every morsel.

I have just 2 days to go! I’m thinking a savory Finnish pastry from Sjolinds? oh, or ramen noodles!

What would your gluten fest look like?!

Sincerely,
Farmer Cassie
